Above Bounds started as an idea on the floor of a corridor. It’s founders Helen Bovey and George Boundy wanted to create performances that were as visually stunning as they were engaging, exciting and entertaining. Their first project was a development of Hroswitha’s Paphnutis, a medieval play that little have heard of and even fewer have seen performed. Although challenging, the project initiated what has been a journey of discovery, allowing us to develop a clear physical style. We now aim to create theatre that has an interesting story at it’s heart- a story that can inspire, educate and appeal to all ages and cultures. Sometimes we take inspiration from History and tell true stories, whilst other times we let our imaginations run loose. What is integral to our process is play, craft and communication.
